cove.tool, an automated performance design platform for AEC companies, announced the release of drawing.tool, a new, free 3D modeling platform for rapid prototyping and easy collaboration. Architects, engineers, students and enthusiasts will find this powerful tool makes the task of creating beautiful, closed geometry that is analysis ready, a seamless and quick process. Designed to be interoperable, users can bring in their projects from other building information modeling (BIM) platforms to draw, modify and easily share or export their finished models.

When asked about the decision to make the application free for users (comparable professional apps can start at $300 a year), “The decision was an easy one,” Sandeep Ahuja, co-founder and chief executive officer of cove.tool responded. “We want to democratize design because ultimately the more people that have access, the more minds we can have working toward a solution to fight climate change since buildings account for almost 40% of global carbon emissions.”

“It all starts with a drawing,” added Co-founder and Head of Product, Patrick Chopson. “Design can be a catalyst to fight climate change if we approach it in the right way.”

What separates cove.tool’s drawing.tool from other apps on the market is its ability to import geometry to and from a range of 3D drawing platforms like Revit, Rhino, Sketchup (see the app store for full list). In addition to this unique interoperability, the drawing.tool also connects users with the automated energy, daylight, carbon modeling and cost optimization into the design process. For cove.tool users already familiar with analysis.tool and its simulation capabilities, drawing.tool simply unlocks greater value by creating a seamless workflow, eliminating the need to reimport geometry to run analyses or switch between platforms for rapid prototyping during the early stages of design. The platform provides a centralized location for architects, engineers, and designers to simultaneously collaborate on projects in real time, streamlining the design process across teams.

drawing.tool is available free to all users beginning October 15, 2021 and can be accessed via the registration page: https://app.covetool.com/register/?drawing_tool=true For more information about drawing.tool visit: https://www.cove.tools/drawing-tool-3d-modeling-software

About cove.tool

cove.tool is an automated design platform for daylight, shadow, energy, carbon, HVAC design and parametric optimization. The software runs thousands of simulations to find the lowest cost solution to meet performance targets, whether that is simply meeting code compliance or achieving net-zero energy building designs. The platform is one of the latest winners in the 2021 ARCHITECT Magazine R+D Awards and has been recognized by the Department of Energy for the app’s ability to optimize building designs for sustainability. cove.tool has expanded its building performance analysis software to incorporate 3D Modeling software, drawing.tool, and it’s new HVAC design software application, loadmodeling.tool.
