SUNY Cortland Smith & Casey Dormitory
Project Summary
The SUNY Cortland Smith & Casey Dormitory renovation aimed to improve energy efficiency while meeting LEED Silver standards. Using cove.tool, the design team analyzed 729 combinations of energy conservation measures to optimize cost and performance, reducing the building's Energy Use Intensity (EUI) by 33%. Key upgrades included improved insulation, LED lighting, and optimized HVAC systems. This approach reduced operational carbon emissions by 380 tons annually and achieved significant water use reductions through low-flow fixtures, contributing to a sustainable, high-performance renovation.
