University of Colorado Housing

Project Summary
The University of Colorado Boulder’s North Campus Graduate Housing project leveraged cove.tool to optimize energy performance and design efficiency. By utilizing data-driven decision-making and parametric optimization, the design team at BSA LifeStructures was able to significantly reduce energy consumption by 25%, targeting an Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of 33 kBTU/sf/yr. cove.tool enabled rapid feedback on site conditions, daylighting, and energy use, helping the team balance performance goals with budget constraints. This approach allowed them to explore thousands of design alternatives, ultimately creating an energy-efficient and cost-effective student housing solution.
